VETERANS DAY!

Ok, so I always feel weird saying "Happy Veterans Day" but its true I'm very Happy For this Day! So here goes, my Dad's dad was in the Army in the 50's I believe, went to A&M and then went off to the war. My (Step) Grandfather was a Captain Ace Fighter Pilot in WW2, and his son, my (Step) Father volunteered in the Army at age 18 and flew Helicopters in Vietnam (Purple Heart), his son, my (step) Brother was a Marine, stood guard on the Cole Ship after it was bombed.

The reason I'm writing this blog is one to tell them I appreciate their hard work more than anything as well as my freedom, love them for the courageous men they (were), are!

Story Time:

So my Step-Grandfather was quite a rebel and tried to fly his plane under the Golden Gate bridge...well take that back he actually DID do that! After the military he flew for TWA for a good long while and then retired.

My Dad volunteered out of high school to be in the Army in Vietnam. He flew Helicopter's and was shot down. I did a presentation on him in middle school it was a really cool presentation. I have pictures and everything of his shot down Helicopter. He has reels (movie footage for those millenials) of Vietnam. I havent seen any of this yet, and I might not ever want to I've been told its pretty gruesome. He did get shot in the thigh and he still has the bullet to show for it...along with a Purple Heart.

Anyway, i'm proud of all of them and I'm so proud of all who serve! Part of me has always wanted to be in the military but I think my mom might have had a hard attack if I tried that road. Here is a cool website I found today while searching for my grandfather's name. Enjoy!

AND THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED OR ARE SERVING our COUNTRY!
